Local girls in the Qianxi area of western Guizhou province create beautifully designed baby carriers using the technique of wrapping horsetail in silk threads and attaching to the carrier to create the design elements. This carrier uses pink and turquoise silk satin applique on red cotton with green and pink coiling silk threads to make the abstract floral and arabesque patterns. Generally in excellent condition; from the mid-20th century.
